The PMEA Research Committee announces a call for papers for the PMEA State Conference to be held in Pittsburgh, PA, April 22-24, 2010.  There are three types of submissions that will be blind-reviewed by the Research Committee for presentation at the conference:  1)  Poster Only: completed and in-progress research of any type (titles and authors will be listed in the conference program)  2) Poster and Presentation:  completed and in-progress research of any type will be considered for a poster and also considered for oral presentation at one of two Research Forums 3) Poster and Workshop:  completed and in-progress research of any type will be considered for a poster, and a companion workshop, sharing applications of the research for the K-12 music teacher in a workshop-style session.  Authors should submit proposals adhering to the following guidelines for electronic submission:1.All submissions: An email with the subject heading "PMEA Submission" and content indicating a) if the research is in-progress or complete, b) the author's name, institutional affiliation, address, phone number, and preferred email address, and c) if the submission is to be considered for Poster Only, Poster and Presentation, or Poster and Workshop (1-3 above).2.For Poster Only and Poster and Presentation submissions: Submit a one-page attachment that includes the title and abstract but does not identify the author in any way. The attachment is to be in Word format only, with the author's last name as the name of the file (example: "Smith.doc" or "Smith.docx").3.For Poster and Workshop submissions:  Submit two attachments. First, submit a one-page attachment per guidelines for Poster Only submission. Second as a separate attachment to the same email, submit a one-page outline with a title and details of a workshop-style presentation based on applications of the poster research.  Please note workshop-style presentations are intended for the general conference audience.  Submitters should include no identifying information on the outline.  The attachment is to be in Word format only, with the author's last name and WS to indicate the workshop submission (example:  "SmithWS.doc (or .docx)").  Workshop sessions will only be considered if the poster has first been accepted.
All submissions must be received by midnight, October 2, 2009 by the committee chair.  If the paper is a completed Masters or Doctoral Thesis, contact the committee chair for instructions to send the signatory page of the paper; these projects are automatically accepted for presentation at the poster session.  Papers will be blind reviewed and notification will be sent electronically by February 2, 2010.  Submissions not adhering to these guidelines will be automatically rejected.  Send submissions to Linda Thornton at
