Database of the Month: Ebrary Academic Complete

Bishop Library subscribes to a database of over 100,000 e-books called ebrary Academic CompleteEbrary Academic Complete is a multi-disciplinary database of academic e-books, browseable by topic or searchable by title, author, subject, and more.

Browseable topics include: 

Anthropology, Business & Economics, Computers & IT, Education, Engineering & Technology, Fine Arts, History, Language & Literature, Law, Life Sciences, Medicine, Physical Sciences, Psychology, Religion, and Social Sciences.

Titles can be added to your bookshelf and annotated with notes online.  PDF's of pages can be printed and/or downloaded for off-line reading.  Entire e-books can be downloaded for a two week loan (up to 10 at a time).   In order to access these options, you must login to the ebrary site using your LVC username/password.  A bookshelf will be automatically created for you to use.

For instructions to download and transfer e-books to a e-book reader (such as a Nook or Sony E-Reader), please see:  Downloads of entire books are only available for e-readers that support Adobe Digital editions.  Kindle devices do not support Adobe Digital Editions, but ebrary provides some workaround instructions for downloading e-books to a Kindle Fire device at:

Ebrary also provides apps for iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices, so that you can view e-books on your mobile device.  Authentication of the ebrary app must be set up ahead through your ebrary account online by either creating a specific username/password or logging in through a Facebook account.  See detailed instructions at:
